Back home in Nor Cal

We had a few more days in So. Cal and took some pictures of the four generations... Great-grandma Anne, Pappa Ken, Mommy Tricia, and baby Cason.  We also made a quick stop to Ryan's future home in Lakewood.

We left on Saturday morning to drive back up to the bay area.  We made it back home safely through the snow!  Thank goodness the weather was not as bad as the forecasters predicted.  This time I timed it a little better and Cason was a champ going home.  We fed him at 7:30 and took off at 8:30ish when he looked like he was ready for his morning nap.  Mom and I made it through a snowy Grapevine, but the snow level was at about 3,000 ft and not too bad.  It was smooth sailing and we stopped at In-and-Out for lunch and Cason woke up as soon as we stopped the car.  Good timing!  He got fed, we ate lunch, played a little and we were back on the road.  We hit a large cloud burst in Gilroy where it snowed heavily on us.  Luckily the car read 36 degrees so it wasn't sticking too much.

Grammie  GG baby sat and Steve and I went out to see the King's Speech since it was an Oscar favorite to win.  Cason and I had a great week in So. Cal, it was great to see everyone and get spoiled with food, presents, and great company!

Little Dragon

It is a cold day in So. Cal so we needed to dress Cason a little warmer to go out.  He finally fits in his little outfit that Steve's cousin Mollie gave Cason for Christmas.  Thank you Mollie and little cousin Declan! Watch out for the little dragon...

Southern Cal week

Well so far we have had a busy week for Cason for his first visit to southern California.  We escaped the storms and got through the Grapevine with a little snow coming down.  Cason was pretty much perfect on the drive down.  He slept most of the way down which was great, but he made us pay for it a little later when he was starving and fussy for a few hours while we tried to get food into him.  On Sat. night we when to Nancy's house for dessert and cards.  The Whitfields and Crocketts got to meet Cason.  On Sunday Cason got to meet his great grandma Anne when we had dinner at Grammie GG and Poppa's house for her 91st birthday.  She thought he was pretty cute and was amused at the baby bjorn when I put Cason in it and walked around the house with him.  Ryan and Jeannette also stopped by for dinner.  On Monday we had lunch with the moms and Cason got great toys, books and puzzles from everyone to play with in the future.  On Tuesday we did some shopping and went to Brian and Alissa's new house in Huntington Beach.  We then hit up Super Mex for dinner.  I got to get my hair cut today which I haven't had done since the beginning of November.  Now we are relaxing watching some golf on tv...  more to come before we leave on Saturday.

Two Months Old

Happy 2 months Cason!  We have made a lot of changes over this past month.  Cason can smile and is cooing when he is happy.  He is a happy baby in the morning and wakes around 7:30/8:00 kicking his legs to get out of his swaddle.  Once he is free the cooing goes on and on...  Cason has a few baby friends that we see once a week right now as all the mommies are off on maternity leave.  Cason is the biggest out of all of them, but he is also the oldest by a week.  We see Riley, Charlie and Nick each week which is a good start to our play friends.

Cason still hates tummy time, however got big props from the doctor when she tested him on Monday.  Way to go!  Thanks for not getting mommy and daddy in trouble little guy.  You made them look good even though they have been slacking in that area!  Feeding is sometimes a struggle still as he sure likes the bottle during the day so the added time of pumping is no fun.  I have figured out how to trick him sometimes and get him to nurse.  Nighttime however is no problem... when asking the doctor about it, she said "weird, never heard that one before".  Great... oh well it will make the transition to work easier.

Cason still falls asleep with any type of motion, so car, stroller, baby bjorn... knocks him out.  Hopefully this stays true through my trip to So. Cal on Saturday.

2 month doctor visit

Cason bravely got 2 shots today for his 2 month doctor visit.  He did really well and took both of them like a champ.  We had our guesses on how big he was and we were a little over the mark, maybe that is because dead lifting him out of the crib at 4am, it feels like he is 20lbs!
He is now 12lbs 2oz and 23 and 3/4 inches.  These were the 65% and 80% which is a big step up from last time when he was in the 25% for height and weight.

Just before the shots - Cason kept looking at himself in the mirror at the dr office

Sleep at last...

Cason slept through the night!!!  At least I am going to count it as such.  Maybe it was all the superbowl partying he did or the past 4 nights of being up a lot to eat, but he slept through last night.  We started to put him down at 10:00 and he was fast asleep at 10:30.  I woke up at around 5:00am and couldn't believe it was already 5:00.  I looked over and Cason was still there, a little sideways (maybe I just didn't hear his thrashing around at 3am) but sound asleep.  Of course he then woke up around 30 mins later at 5:30 to eat.  But I count 7 hours of sleep as passing the test.  Unfortunately he only went back to sleep for about an hour and I was up for the day at 7:15.  Hopefully this trend sticks!

Superbowl Sunday

Yea Packers!  This household was rooting for the Packers for Superbowl XLV.  We were happy they won and even happier that we won a part of the office pool!   Q3's score was our lucky quarter.  While we rooted for the Packers, Cason showed his loyalty to his 49ers for the occasion.

Birthday weekend

Well we had a great birthday weekend so far.  On Friday, Cason's Nana came over to babysit so that we could go out to dinner.  We went out to a nice mexican food restaurant in Saratoga.  Nana did a great job and we came home to a sleeping baby all snuggled up in her arms.

On Saturday the weather was amazing.  I think the car thermometer read 77 degrees at one point during the day.  We decided to take advantage of it and get out of the house.  We drove up to the Ridge Winery which was about a 30 minute drive.  We went wine tasting and the Ridge had mostly Zinfandel type wines which is one of my favorites and had a picnic overlooking Silicon Valley.   It was such a beautiful day and I was glad to live in California after reading about the rest of the country's terribly cold winter weather.

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Dear Mommy,

I wanted to be the first to say happy birthday to you on Feb 3rd, so I decided to wake up at 1:15am.  Now I  know I have been sleeping from 10:30pm to 4:00am for the past week, but today was special so I woke up multiple times to let you know how much I love you.  I woke up at 1:15, 3:30, 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00!  At 7:30 I decided we should get up for the day since it was your birthday.  We watched a little tv, ate again, and then I took a 20 minute nap so you could jump in the shower at 10:30.  However, you were gone a long time in the shower and I let you know by calling out very loudly for you when you got out of the shower.  Sorry you didn't get to dry your hair.  We then went for a walk, which usually puts me to sleep, but not today!  It was your birthday, I couldn't fall asleep on you.  We later went to the mall and again I am sorry I fell asleep for 20 minutes, but I was back up again quickly to enjoy your day with you.  I finally fell asleep at 4:00 for my first real nap of the day because I was exhausted.
We went out to for a glass of wine and I stayed awake for the first time during dinner out... and I was really quiet and well behaved.  I hope you have had a good birthday, I sure worked hard at being awake for you!  Maybe I will get some sleep tonight?

On our way out to dinner

Happy 33rd Birthday - love Cason

Walking in the baby bjorn

Cason needed some entertainment other than his toys and bouncy chair so we decided to go for a walk outside.  Well if he is in the stroller he passes out pretty quickly and I wanted to keep him awake.  So I put on the baby bjorn and turned him to face the world.  His head is pretty steady now, so this worked well if we walked slowly.  It was pretty chilly outside with the wind blowing so Cason needed a hat.    He loved looking at the trees outside.  Unfortunately, in the end he still ended up falling asleep, but only after we returned to the coziness of the house.
