Cason has accomplished standing on his own this past weekend. We find him standing everywhere now. In his crib, sofa, table chairs, bed, cabinets, you name it. Oh and yes he loves my phone which he is holding in the pictures.

Trying to stand
We have moved quickly on from trying to crawl to standing as the choice of things to do. If I am sitting on the ground Cason will crawl over and use me as his support system to get to his feet. He is super wobbly, but continues to practice incessantly every day. Here is a play by play via photos.

Company picnic
I forgot I brought the small camera to the park last week and took a few pictures at the picnic. Our new company had a picnic in Walnut Creek which we packed Cason up and had a good but warm day at the park. Unfortunately I couldn't participate in the 30 and under vs. 31 and over softball game as it started at 2:00 which was when we had to leave for Cason's nap. Sad that I am considered old now at 31+ years... howerver, good because the old guys won the game!

Arizona trip
We went to Arizona to see the Uchaczs this past weekend. Kinsley gave "baby Cason" lots of love and was very excited to have him there. We had a sprinkle for baby Uchacz #2 due in early November. The kiddos did great and we had a great time in AZ. We are excited to go back this winter to meet the new baby.

Flight to AZ
Cason and I took a trip to AZ this weekend to see Amy, Brad and Kinsley. It was the first time Cason has been out of the state of California and the first time we took a flight by ourselves. Well it didn't start out so well as the flight was delayed 30 minutes upon arrival to the airport. However, we were pros going through the security line without a hiccup. Then after the 30+ minute delay and with boarding group A already on the plane, the call came that there was a weird smell reported by the pilots on the plane and maintenance had been called. So everyone got off the plane with no estimated time of departure. After about 15 minutes, they told us they were getting a new plane, but it wasn't landing for another 40 minutes. With this news, Cason came out of the carseat and played on the airport floor to burn some energy.
Then we got on the flight, and there were a few middle seats open, the last guy to get on, walks past us and then comes back and asks to sit in the middle seat. (secretly I groaned) As he is sitting down, I comment, "sorry he may be a little wiggly on this flight due to the delay". The guy took the hint and immediately changed his mind and moved seats. Really, who sits down next to a baby when there are a lot of other open seats? Guess I am becoming a pushy mom? Cason ended up being exhausted and slept in my lap/middle seat the entire way. yay! All ended up well, 1.5 hours late.

Eight months old
Cason,
Lots of new tricks this month. I think this was your second biggest month for change. You started out the month barely sitting and crawling commando style to now crawling on your hands and knees and easily sitting up. You are quite the mover now and can get anywhere you want to very quickly. Lastly, you also just figured out how to pull up using us as your ladder. We are amused as you try relentlessly to get onto your feet and hands and try to stand up, but you just don't have the core strength to pull up yet. We give you a week or two and you will be there. However with all these new skills comes restless nights. You are our 2:30 wake up call each night and we find you stuck, sitting up in the crib, crying out until we come in and lay you back down. Sometimes it take two-three rounds before you stay down and are convinced we haven't abandoned you. Lately it has just been once, so I am hoping that our attempts at sleep training will pay off and you won't wake soon.
You also loves all sorts of new toys. The best is Jayden and whatever he is playing with at the moment. Other than that you have learned to press buttons to make things sing and love the new blocks you just got. You still love your lovies and "need" them to fall asleep now. We have an army of them as they get pretty disgusting from all your slobbery love.
You are seriously the best eater and have mastered all the veggies and fruits we could think of to throw at you. Your new ones this month included plums, blueberries, prunes, mango, papaya, butternut squash and corn. We have started to mix them together now and have come up with some interesting combinations. We are supposed to start "protein" now, but haven't had the courage to make all the crazy food combos as they kinda sound terrible. You ready for chicken and peaches puree? yum!
We love you little guy.

Flip flops
Cason likes shoes so much, especially flip flops, so I decided to buy him a clean pair of flip flops in his size to chew on. So I while I was in Walgreens I notices a pair of cheap Mickey flip flops and bought them. I set them down where we usually have shoes laying around and Cason immediately crawled to them. He was in heaven getting to have them. These are coming with me on the plane as quiet entertainment in a few weeks, so I have to take them away from him so he thinks they are still a new toy.
