Skwish
Cason loves this toy at Jayden's house, so when I came across is at the bookstore during the weekend I had to buy it. (Insert here - I am becoming my mother). The funny thing is he has little control over the toy when he becomes excited and he flails around and hit himself in the head with it. Luckily it is a light toy and it doesn't seem to faze him.

Sweet potatoes, sweet potatoes, yum yum yum!
Tell my mommy this is WAY better than silly rice cereal! Today I had yummy sweet potatoes for the first time. I can get used to these and I know they used to be my mommy's favorite. Hopefully I won't turn orange like my mommy did when she was my age. After I showed my parents that I liked it so much they decided to make me some sweet potatoes. We will see if their version is as good as the professionals make in the jar. - Cason

Sloanie cat
Cason has discovered animals. He now watches Sloanie whenever he comes into the room. During the week Jayden has two doggies, Sam and Charlie who love Cason and are just waiting for him to be big enough so that they can give him kisses. He watches them with great interest and has started to reach for them when they come by.

New dinner spot
We have a new dinner spot. Our patio! We bought a small bistro table and two chairs last weekend and with the summer weather approaching have begun to eat outside which is great when you have a 5 month old. The best part is we drag the exersaucer out and Cason is amused the entire time and we get to eat in peace. So we picked up take out from one of our downtown Willow Glen favorites and ate in luxury without having to entertain or quiet Cason down. Tonight's meal was from Opa! yum!

Sleep training
We planned to take it easy this weekend with our crazy work drama and the fact that we were determined to get Cason to sleep through the night after a terrible week of up and downs. So we set out on Friday night super determined and prepared to be up half the night with lots of crying. Well I guess Cason sensed our determined "vibe" and slept great! He woke at 11:00, cried for 12 minutes and back to sleep. He woke again at 1:30 and cried for 4 minutes and back to sleep until 6:30. (mind you this was great in our eyes based on the past week of up every 30 minutes for 3 hours). We felt like new people having so much sleep! He napped great with 2- 2 hour naps during the day too!
Saturday night we had it a little rougher. He woke for the first time at 1:20 and stayed up crying on and off until 2:30. He would go at it for 10 minutes, stop for 10, and so on... I finally went in and had to pick him up to get him to calm down. Once that happened he was asleep until 7am. So overall we are getting better. We had a nice, productive and relaxing weekend just hanging out around the house and enjoying the nice weather.

Big boy in the stroller
Look mommy, no baby carseat! Cason is loving being a big boy now and sitting in the stroller without a carseat some of the time. Tina sent me this picture of them going to Happy Hallow today with Cason sitting up and enjoying the view. Sigh, he is growing up too fast!
So much fun to be getting bigger... |

Yummy rice cereal
Cason is eating (or I should say drinking) so much food and still seeming to be hungry. So we decided to add solids to the mix. Our doctor recommended starting in the 5th month, so Cason got a nice 5 month birthday surprise of rice cereal to eat. Therefore, we broke out the borrowed highchair, bought some bowls, spoons and cereal and read our baby books on how to attack this eating solids. The pictures tell the rest.

Five months old
You are really starting to understand the jumper and really go to town, but you still enjoy jumping on our laps. You eat a crazy amount of food and we have to supplement with formula as your mommy no matter how hard she tries can't make enough for you. She can usually get about 26-28 oz for you to eat, but you are now at 32-35oz a day. Solid food is right around the corner!
You are starting to learn how to scoot. You have the feet and knees downpat, but the arms need to get with the program. Right now you are putting your head on the ground, pushing with your feet, then slide your arms up... it is entertaining to watch, but we fear you are going to be mobile soon.
You are becoming a very happy baby and a big flirt when we are out. It has been a busy and fun month and we are excited for what is coming up next month.
