Bang, bang, bang

Cason did NOT want to go to sleep last night.  Probably because it was 83 degrees in his room (no air conditioning on 100 degree days is rough).  So he was pretty good and was chatting away, which turned into a little fussing, and then into loud banging.  Not knowing what it was and hearing it over the monitors, I had to go in and check to make sure he was not wedged into a weird position.  Turns out he got himself turned in a perfect position to bang loudly on the crib wall where it is a solid piece.  He thought it was pretty fun and it also brought mommy to him.  He wasn't so happy when mommy left him (after snapping a few pics) determining he was was just playing around.

6 month doctor appointment

Cason had his 6 month appointment yesterday and is growing like a weed.  He weighed in at 17.0 lbs (50%) and 27 3/4 inches tall (90%).   The doctor said he looked great and that he was meeting all his milestones.  We talked a lot about food (so far we are following the rules!) and he doesn't have to go back until he is 9 months.  He was not a happy boy after his shots and let everyone know it for a few minutes.  He also unfortunately spiked a fever afterwards and it hit 100.1 on one of the hottest days we have had this year.  So the poor guy not only was running a fever, but his room was 81 degrees when we put him down to bed.  He bounced back quickly and was in good spirits today.

Happy First Father's Day

We had a busy weekend with Father's Day, a wedding in the City, and Grammy GG in town.  Grammy came into town on Thursday night and brought Cason some new outfits and we took some 6 month photos over the weekend.  She stayed with us and watched Cason on Friday and Saturday evening while we worked and went to a coworkers wedding.  The wedding was a great time, however we forgot our camera so we will need to find some pictures from other people.  Steve had a little "too" good of a time and was a little slow to get up on Sunday morning.  Luckily it was Father's day so he got to sleep in.  Cason gave his daddy a BBQ for his first Father's day and we went shopping in the afternoon to pick one out.  I am sure it will be his new play toy for the rest of the summer.  Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.

Six months old

Yea Cason, such a big boy!  Six months!  You have become such an active little one.  You are on your knees ready to crawl, but still not "officially" there yet.  You aren't quite sitting yet, but we are pretty sure it is cause you just can't sit still long enough to care about sitting up.  You just want to move!

You are very ticklish and laugh out loud every time we find those great spots.  We can get you to laugh and talk to us, but you are shy with others.

Also, everything goes into your mouth and you are obsessed with tags this past month.  You don't care about anything other than the tag on everything you hold.  You have radar for them and will even find the smallest tag on a stuffed animal.

You have been eating solids for two weeks now and have had sweet potatoes, peas, bananas, peaches, and carrots.  You are not a fan of peas so far.  You are a very eager eater, but once those peas show up, those lips are locked close and you get mad that we are not serving something more tasty.  We are trying apples, avocado, pears, squash, and zucchini next.

The best part is you are becoming quite the sleeper.  You only wake at night if you have a dirty diaper and are doing better on naps.  Now to get you out of the car seat 100% of the time.  It has been our fall back cheating tool to get you down when you are fussy.

First trip to the City

Well with all that is going on with work we have been very tired and when it comes to the weekend we have been very lazy at doing anything for the past month.  We have been recovering each weekend and preparing for our next weekly onslaught of meetings and deadlines.  So this weekend we decided we had enough and planned for a day in San Francisco!  It was Cason's first trip and mommy hadn't been since before he was born.  We went to the farmers market in the Ferry Building and to the Marina to eat lunch and got to see Auntie Alice.  It was a pretty day in the city but very windy.  We only had one major snafu.... the battery in my camera died after the first shot.  Ahhhh!  Here is my one shot of the bundled up little guy.

Crawling that is.  Cason is getting up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth the last few days. It appears that crawling might be around the corner.  He gets going and then loses his balance and falls over onto his back.  I think he may be crawling by his 6 month b-day, we will see.  Then we are going to be in big trouble as we are pretty lazy at watching him sometimes.  I will soon be getting a workout chasing after him.  Feels like baby gates and baby proofing are in our near future.  Here is some pictures of the wiggly little man.

Rain, rain... go away!

It is June and we have had terrible cold and rainy weather the past week.  I haven't been on a walk with Cason since last Saturday.  Today was tough to entertain him, as we usually get out of the house to give him some amusement.  It was really coming down for most of the day, so we had to break out some new toys to do the job.  I am ready for summer, but it looks like Mother Nature likes the rain this year.  Cason was nice and cranky at bed time as I think he didn't get enough action today even though we tried our best.
