As Cason learns to talk he comes up with the best comments and use of phrases. In addition, with raising a boy, I often catch myself laughing at my own responses and asking myself, did I just say that? Here are a few of our conversations so we don't forget them when he is older ...
Mommy: when you have to go potty, you tell mommy, then we go poop in the potty"
Cason: "nooooo, potty in pants THEN tell mommy".
Cason: my do it!!!! (Every time you try to help him with a verse in a song)
Mommy: Cason count to 20.
Cason: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 (the 9 in a heavy Australian accent) 10 11 12 13 16 17 18 19 20. Yea!!!! Well done, sir! (in a British accent).
Yea, skipped a few buddy.
Cason: whispering, "chocolate bunny" (his reward for poop in the potty)
Cason: SOOO awesome! (His response to going to Jayden's house)
Mommy: Cason are you peeing in the bath again? Cason: yesssssss!
Cason: "mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy...". Seriously sounds like the family guy clip when I am trying to talk to someone and I am not paying attention to him.
Mommy: where do you want to go?
Cason: "Starbucks! Coffee so yummy!"
Mommy: do you drink coffee?
Cason: "yes! With daddy! So yummy!"
And many more I can't remember...

Eating with two
So this is how I managed to feed both kiddos at the same time. Instead of eating at the table, we moved into the living room and ate from the coffee table. We brought out Cason's chair and "big oo-oo" to keep him company as Rory and I looked in from the couch.
Success!

6 weeks - Rory
Changes! Rory has become no longer a newborn, but truly a plump little baby. With these changes she has been spacing out her eating, sleeping better, and starting to enjoy other things like the bouncy chair and her Ocean play mat. The bad addition to our daily routine is that she has acquired a "witching hour" (which is actually about 2-3 hours). It starts somewhere around 6:00-7:00 pm
and goes until around 9:00 when she finally conks out from exhaustion. The one difference from Cason is that this kid has lungs! She screeches and constantly screams out the entire time. It has been going on for about a week now and we are hoping this phase goes as quickly as it came.
Last Monday we had a quick doctor's trip and Rory weighed 10lbs 3oz.
Here are some new Rory pics.

Park play date
We had a park play date with the mommy group we created from Cason's birthing classes last weekend. After looking at the pictures I had to laugh as I realized there were no pictures of any of the three 2nd born babies who were all there in their strollers. We had our hands full running after the 2 year olds but next time we will have to make sure to snap some of them.
Sorry Rory (3 weeks), Johnny (4 months) and Ethan (7 months).

It's just two days right? I can survive?!?
I was informed this past week that I will be a single parent for two days this week as Steve leaves for a work trip (and mostly for a Cubs game) to Chicago. Now he did inform me of this at the end of February, but who remembers anything when you are 38 weeks pregnant and the event is 2 months away.
So I will be juggling a 33 day old infant and a potty training 2 year old. Thank goodness Tina will be here to take Cason during the day. (Don't anyone even think of getting sick!)
(Also, Amy if you are reading this, I am hitting him up for paybacks (aka girl's weekend) once Rory is old enough.)

Rory one month old
We have made the one month birthday! It feels like it has been a lot longer. Rory is starting to be awake longer and is getting interested in faces and objects. She is still waking 3-4 times a night, but it is usually for a quick feed and back to bed. It seems that 3am is her witching hour though and she is wide awake often until 4-4:30. She is well out of newborn clothes too.
Here is our new Pooh Bear pictures for Rory.

Mat playtime
Cason loves when Rory is actually doing something other that sleeping and eating. It is hard to keep him a safe distance away from her. Here he is sharing mat time with her.

Easter egg hunt
We celebrated Easter with Cason and Rory's cousins and had a great Easter egg hunt outside. Cason had already had an early morning egg hunt at the house so he knew exactly what to do. He knew the colored eggs contained goodies and every time he found an egg, he immediately wanted to open it to see what was inside. That is ok when you are the only one "hunting" at home, it doesn't quite work so well when you have older cousins and friends zooming by you to find eggs. He got to go first since he was the youngest and had a great time hunting and found his fair share.
Waiting for the egg hunt to begin |
